All Skav watches are fitted with sapphire glass. It is strong, long lasting and is almost impossible to scratch. Where other brands choose the much cheaper mineral glass, Skav consciously chose for sapphire glass. We use sapphire glass because we want to deliver best possible quality to you.
It is a very hard, transparent material made of crystallizing aluminum oxide at very high temperatures. Chemically, synthetic sapphire is the same as the natural sapphire used in jewelry, but it's lacking the coloring agents that give the gemstone its various hues. When it is heated, the synthetic sapphire forms round masses that are sliced into pieces with diamond-coated saws. These disks are then ground and polished into watch crystals. (One reason sapphire crystals are relatively expensive is that the tools required to make them are costly)
Sapphire (whether natural or synthetic) is one of the hardest substances on earth. It measures 9 on the Mohs scale, which is a system for rating the relative hardness of various materials. (Diamond measures 10, the highest rating.)

In your Skav Watch we use synthetic sapphire glass and we re pretty sure you'll love it. Just like us.

All watches, except for the Eko watch, are 3ATM Water-Resistant. The Eko watch is 10 ATM Water-Resistant and therefore also fitted with a screw-down crown.
Timepieces marked "Water Resistant"by ISO 2281 have passed the following test only; 30 minutes under water at a depth of 1 m (3ft) followed by 90 seconds under a pressure corresponding to 20m (66ft) . "3 ATM" and "Water Resistant"are NOT suitable for swimming.
Timepieces marked "10 ATM Water Resistant" are suitable for everyday use including swimming and snorkelling but NOT suitable for highboard diving or sub-aqua diving.
The crown must be in the normal or "Screw Down" position and must NOT be worked when wet. Dry with a soft cloth after immersion. Keep in mind that water-resistance is not a permanent condition. For example, the gaskets that are fitted in the crown, case back and glass will deteriorate with time and should be inspected and changed periodically. It is good practice to change the battery hatch or case back seals whenever the battery cell is changed.
